Use both axes together
Look at the candle from 11 April. Two lines have been added to the chart to help you read its position.
The vertical line runs from the top of the chart to the time axis. It marks when the candle formed. Follow the line to the time axis, and you will find 11 April.
The horizontal line runs from the candle towards the price axis. It marks the candle's high. Follow the line to the price axis to read the price.
The place where the two lines cross connects a date with a price. In this example, the crossing shows the high reached on 11 April.
Traders use vertical lines to mark important dates or events. Horizontal lines are often used to mark important prices, including support and resistance levels. These drawing tools make it easier to return to the same date or price later.
Select Try it yourself when you are ready. The example lines will disappear. For the first exercise, select Vertical Line and click or tap the required date. For the second exercise, select Horizontal Line and click or tap the required price.
