Chart intervals

Change the interval

Until now, you have viewed the chart one day at a time. Now you will change it to an hourly view.

Open the interval control in the chart toolbar. TradingView displays the hourly interval as 1 hour. Select it, and the chart reloads with hourly candles.

Each candle now covers one hour of trading. Twenty-four consecutive hourly candles cover the same amount of time as one daily candle.

If those 24 hourly candles were combined, they would form one daily candle. The daily open comes from the first hourly candle, and the daily close comes from the last. The highest and lowest prices across all 24 candles become the daily high and low.

Many trading strategies compare more than one interval. A daily chart can show the broader price direction. An hourly chart provides a closer look at recent movement. Smaller intervals show more detail, but they also contain more short-term noise. Noise means small price changes that may not affect the broader direction.
