One daily Bitcoin candle

A chart interval, also called a timeframe, tells you how much time each candle represents. This Bitcoin chart uses the 1D interval, so every candle represents one day.

Bitcoin can be traded 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Trading continues through the night and over weekends. On this 1D chart, each candle covers 24 hours of trading. Candle X represents 17 March 2023.

The panel beside the chart divides 17 March into 24 one-hour periods. On a one-hour chart, every block would appear as a separate candle.

The daily candle takes its open from the first hourly candle and its close from the last. Its high is the highest price reached during those 24 hours, and its low is the lowest.

The daily candle hides the movement inside those 24 hours. It cannot show which hour reached the high or low. Changing to a one-hour interval reveals that detail without changing the underlying price history.
